Invitation dilemma

The wedding should be a reflection of the personalities of the bride and groom.

Even for couples like us who have complete decision-making power, things are still easier said then done. People are complicated individuals with different facets to their personality. How do you resolve the thoughtful, serious, tradition-loving side of us with the fun, quirky, happy go-lucky people that we also are? I couldn't quite commit to a formal, cardstock invitation; we didn't want a colorful, pop-up one either. (You should see Eric roll his eyes back whenever I tease him about "going trendy.")

How to break the impasse? Have 2 different invitations.

The traditional one is made of some very lovely bronze paper and cream-colored cardstock. We'll have all the basics: main invitation, reception card, map, and perhaps an at home card. There's a slight deviation from what Filipinos are used to in that we're not including an entourage list and gift/registry* information. These will be sent out 4-8 weeks before the wedding.

The more contemporary invitation is a tin can with our names, the date of our wedding and the venue of the ceremony. We're sending them out just as soon as we can put them together, and it'll include a slip of paper that has the address of our wedding website (for maps and other pertinent information). It shouldn't be more than a month from now and they'll be taking the place of the save-the-date card and formal invitation. Hopefully our friends won't lose them. ;)

*We're all pretty much in the same boat and with the expense of having to attend a wedding and an out-of-town one at that, just having you guys in Tagaytay is enough for us. But family and friends have been bugging us to register saying that it is absolutely essential so we're still trying to figure out how to go about this.
